Adam Finkelstein & Kelly Rausch

Adam has been an apiary inspector, certified organic farm owner/manager, sometime entomology graduate student, and queen breeder since 1989. Kelly has been a biologist at NIH since 1998 and has been using instrumental insemination in VP Queen Bee's breeding program for eleven years. She and Adam work bees, evaluate queens and extract and pack their honey in the beautiful Catoctin Valley, near Frederick, Maryland, U.S.A.

We received a SARE farmer grant from the USDA to research ways to select queen bees for mite tolerance. Using the Alcohol Wash Assay, we tested breeder queen candidates. Research Results
